Approach your broker or lender and find out how much you can borrow. If you are not sure weather your are eligible for a loan it may be worth getting a pre approval. With a pre approval the lender pre qualifies you and can give you an approval subject to the property being valued.Try and find a good solicitor and a building and pest inspector before you start to look for a property, this way you will have time to compare prices. Talk to friends and use who they used or use someone local. Make sure you ask what you are getting for your money.
Make sure that when you sign a contract for the purchase of a property that you have sufficient time to organize you finance. Usually contracts have a 14 day finance clause but it is up to the buyer and seller to agree upon how long the finance clause lasts.
